Collection: Vitthal Temple, Pandharpur
The Pandharpur Vitthal Mandir is the central kṣetra of the Vārkarī sampradāya, with the mūrti of Śrī Viṭṭhala standing on a brick in samabhanga posture. The temple calendar pivots on Āṣāḍhī and Kārtikī Ekādaśī, when the Sun transits Mithuna and Vṛścika rāśi respectively, coinciding with massive Wārī pilgrimages. Its flat-roofed garbhagṛha breaks from typical śikhara architecture, symbolizing Viṣṇu’s descent to bhakta-loka.
