Collection: Mayureśvara Temple, Morgaon

The Morgaon Mayureśvara is the ādi-pīṭha of the Aṣṭavināyaka circuit, dedicated to Gaṇapati who subdued the asura Sindhurasura riding a mayūra (peacock). Built in Hemādpanti stone style, the temple has a distinctive high wall with four gateways aligned to the catuḥdiśā (four directions), each crowned with a Ganesha idol. Pilgrimage here is astrologically favored on Bhādrapada Caturthī when Candra is exalted in Vṛṣabha.
