Collection: Mahālakṣmī Temple, Kolhapur

The Kolhapur Mahālakṣmī is one of the Ṣoḍaśa Mahāśakti Pīṭhas, with the mūrti of Ambābāī seated in padmāsana on a stone throne. The temple follows Cālukya-era drāviḍa style with intricate sculptures. Astronomically, on Ratha Saptamī (Māgha Śukla Saptamī) and Kārttika Amāvasyā, the Sun’s rays fall directly on the deity, a rare architectural alignment.
