Collection: Khaṇḍobā Temple, Jejuri

The Jejuri temple is dedicated to Khaṇḍobā (Martanda Bhairava), an avatāra of Śiva revered in agrarian and warrior communities. Built in Yādava-style stonework, the temple is known for its ritual Bhandārā festival, where turmeric (haridrā) is showered as symbol of śakti. The main festival aligns with Mārgaśīrṣa Paurṇimā, when lunar fullness in Mṛgaśīrṣa enhances solar-Śiva energy.
